About Us

About our New Website launched afresh April 2010:

Welcome to our new website. If you were a fan of our old website then we thank you and we know why because we loved it too.
Some of you will be thinking 'you sold out you *******' or something to that effect. Well yes we understand that too but three years in the inter-hyper-web-space world is the same as four generations of humans and it seems that some bloke in a dodgy shirt in southern California decides whether websites are either efficient or just lovely.
So we have been dragged kicking and sceaming into the 21C by some very nice, very technically knowledgeable and talented people in Nottingham who have looked after us in hyper-webby-space since day 1 of the company and so who are we to argue - we design clothing for God's/Allah's/Buddha's/Bobby Charlton's sake!

We hope you like it, we hope it is clearer, we hope it is easier to use and we hope you are not too cross with us.

And now.....about the company:

We are not big - we just made it out of the kitchen into the barn for more space, we don't do industrial parks.
We are originally from the industrial North, we even once owned a dark satanic spinning mill.
We have now settled in the rather lovely and rather sedate Rutland, in the middle of England.

If you have read bits of the product copy you may have guessed we are not really a "mission statement" kind of company, we like to talk to our customer as grown ups so we try not to do the corporate babble.

Here's a few clues:

- we have been making clothes/yarns/fabrics/a noise for about 5 generations of the family now - always based in the Isles of Great Britain.

- we are still working with people we have known for at least 3 generations - yes it's still possible despite the balance of payments deficit, you just have to know where to look and you have to care.

- the brand is 3 years old, we now have this new look website, we have 4 stores in the UK and a store in Barcelona in Spain (how did that happen?)

- we make ALL our clothing in the UK or Europe - nowhere else.

- we believe business is about people, tradition, skill and not just our margin - we pay our factories a fair price, we do not have a ridiculous mark up.

Some old fashioned values are worth keeping, not everything about the past is out of date.

Oh and the Dog thing.................

yeah we love the infamous Jack Russell terrier - they are loyal, brave, tenacious, honest, damn fine looking dogs and originally Made In Britain just like us - they seemed like a good role model.
